Doctor Woke: The 60th Anniversary Disappointment

I'm pretty disappointed with the first part of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special. I wanted to watch The Doctor and Donna in a cool reunion plot. I really wanted to relive the glory days of the modern show!

Instead, they've retconned one of the best stories from that time, the Doctor-Donna! This was beyond distastefully handled. Too much woke "the message" bullshit that was expected to hold up the "plot" It felt a lot like Star Trek: Discovery in that regard...

Those on the internet who are of similar opinions to my own on this matter are being shot down and gas lit. "Doctor Who has always been progressive" "What about Captain Jack Harkness?" are their arguments.

Firstly, there is a difference between the show being progressive like it was and what we have now. What we had previously were subtle hints here and there that were never the focal plot points or take-away messages from the episodes. You could take or leave the messages and the show itself would still be intact. Now though, the entire plot and message is to the point that it's the only part of the story that remains. How is that better? Secondly, Captain Jack was a fun character. His character might have had some agenda about him, but it didn't ever feel forced.

Can't we just have good, well written character driven stories without forced woke messaging?

They ruined Davros too! They've changed his design and made him look like some Gestapo looking generic villain instead of "someone in a wheelchair" ? Apparently it was unacceptable to have a villain character be associated with being in a wheelchair. Which is a very large stretch to make.

Who in their right mind saw the original design and associated it with a person in a wheelchair? He just looks like a Dalek? But the Daleks all move the way that Davros does, yet their design doesn't need to change? Hmmm... righto! Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts and have a bit of a rant.
