Get What You Get Challenge #1

Greetings fellow Simmers!

I know it has been a while since my last update, but here I am and I have with me the results of a build challenge! I spent a long time away from the game (again...) and decided that when I jumped back in that I needed a little inspiration. TheSimSupply (James Turner) over on YouTube, recently made his second attempt on the "Get What You Get Challenge" so I thought I might give it a go myself. I put all my packs into this randomiser and randomised the list 5 times, the top 5 results on the list are what I used to complete the challenge. I own all packs aside from My First Pet Stuff and Fitness Stuff.

My Randomised Packs:
  • Seasons
  • Get To Work
  • Cats and Dogs
  • Laundry Day Stuff
  • Cool Kitchen Stuff
I think I was pretty fortunate to get these packs. Having a good variety of Expansions over Stuff Packs or Game Packs was especially helpful as those are what made things like having a decent variety of windows, doors etc and establishing a theme for the build a lot easier. Having said that, there was still a fair amount of "challenge" element there and I will be doing this again. So be sure to keep an eye out on the blog for any builds tagged with #GetWhatYouGetChallenge !

I'm really happy with the floor-plan and exterior of this home. I also believe it was a pretty solid attempt at furnishing given the limitations of the challenge. It's a shame that the challenge unfortunately didn't leave me with a lot of landscaping options so that's why it's a little bare, thankfully it doesn't look too out of place given the lot size. Anyway, I hope you like it!

I'm thinking of creating a family that will go with this particular build. During the build process I had the idea of making this home for couple with a daughter who is best friends with their pet cat (hence the design choices, especially in the child's bedroom and all the cat related stuff) I find having a little story to work on makes it easier to furnish my builds. So I might create them. If I do, I'll be sure to link between this post and the eventual post about the family.

Happy Simming!
